B.C. CLIMATE ACTION SECRETARIAT: MÉTIS CLIMATE RESILIENCE ENGAGEMENT

The Métis people are a culturally distinct Indigenous Nation, who possess unique lived experiences with climate change, adaptation, and resilience. In order to centre those unique voices and promote equity and inclusion of the Métis within climate resilience discussions, the B.C. government collaborated with the Métis Nation of British Columbia to host a two-part, virtual event. The gathering acknowledged the work accomplished in the 2021 MNBC Climate Preparedness Workshop Series, highlighted stories of Métis climate resilience and food security/sovereignty, and hosted various breakout groups focusing on mental health and cultural wellness, food security, climate risk assessment, responding to climate emergencies, and tools for action and individual impact.
